Left Nut's Raider Report

Here's the most recent transactions by the Oakland Raiders and my reactions to them. In the wake of Jon Condo's concussion, The Raiders signed longsnapper Nick Guess to the practice squad, a move guaranteed to make Travis Goethel's life much easier. Guess from the Univ. of Tennessee, was most recently with San Diego, having been released during the team's final roster cuts. The Raiders await word on Condo's status before determining if Guess will be added to the 53 man roster.

The Raiders also signed defensive lineman Brandon Bair and re-signed cornerback/kick returner Coye Francies, whom they had released on 09/09/12, to the practice squad.  Bair, from the Univ. of Oregon, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He failed to make the final 53 man roster for the Chiefs on Aug. 31st. To make roster space for the trio, WR Brandon Carswell, DE Vaughn Meatoga & LB Nathan Stupar were released from the practice squad.

Derek Hagan returned to the Raiders, Hagan turned a few heads during the preseason in 2011, but was cut at mid-season in favor of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a bad move on the part of The Raider as T.J. (a favorite target of Carson Palmer at Cincinnati) gave no juice to the Raiders. Hagan caught on with the Buffalo Bills, with whom he finished the 2011 season. Coye Francies was cut from the 53 man roster to make room for Hagan. 

Cornerback, Joselio Hanson signed with the Raiders on 09/03/12, Hanson spent the last six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, he started out in the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2003 with the San Francisco 49ers. Hanson played his college ball at Texas Tech. His signing led to the departure of the much maligned DeMarcus Van Dyke, who never developed into the corner that Oakland had hoped for.

On Monday, September 10, when the Raiders faced the Chargers, Raider Ron attended his 200th straight Raiders game. That’s 200 consecutive games, home and away, here's the reaction on FB;
